EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a therapeutic approach for the effective treatment of post- traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as well as a broad range of emotional difficulties including anxiety and depression. This is an evidence based treatments for adults and young people.

Traumatic experiences may include major incidents such as accidents, violence or sexual abuse, but may also include distress arising from less obviously dramatic events like bullying, rejection in personal relationships or downturns in work or professional life.

NHS (NICE) guidelines suggest that about 12 sessions are required for a single trauma but longer where there is multiple trauma.

I am happy to be contacted either by e-mail or telephone to explore whether this approach may be helpful.

For more information visit EMDR Association UK.

Family Therapy

Family Therapy ( sometimes called Systemic Psychotherapy) is a well established form of therapy that helps people in close relationship help each other. It enables family members, couples and others who care about each other to express and explore thoughts and emotions safely, to understand each other’s experiences and views, appreciate each other’s needs, build on strengths and make useful changes in their relationships and their lives. Individuals also can find Family Therapy helpful, as an opportunity to reflect upon and strengthen important relationships.

Family therapy is a tried and tested therapy with the backing of research evidence. When used with children and young people it has proved particularly successful in helping with conduct problems, depression, deliberate self harm, eating problems and conflict in relationships. It can also be very helpful in adult couples where one or both partners are experiencing depression.

Fees

I offer a free initial online or telephone consultation to talk over the reason for your contacting me, to look at your options and to think about whether I am the right person to help you and/or your family. This also offers you the opportunity to ask any questions about me and my practice that are not covered here. This can last up to 45 minutes

If we then agree to meet online for an initial assessment - this if for us to explore your concerns more fully together and to think about what is most likely to help - I charge £60 for a 60 minute session. I generally use the video platform Zoom for this. I also use other specialist platforms for EMDR work.

For subsequent meetings the fee is £60 for one hour
